Default Ohms per. Ft. Vs. Spark Output ?

Does anyone know what the difference in spark output at the Plug would be with Wires that put out say 50 ohms/ft vs. 500 ohms/ft?

i think lower resistance would give greater current through the wires for a given voltage (V = I*R)...so better spark? but with the lower current you would also have a greater chance for emi...this is just pretty much a guess, anyone know if i am right?

That's exactly right. I just installed a set of the MSD 8.5 last night and they claim they can produce a 50 ohm/foot wire with less EMI because of special windings and insulators in the wire. All I know is there's a noticeably crisper throttle response and smoother acceleration now. :cool:

The difference in spark output between 50 and 500 ohm per foot plug wire is insignificant because the spark coil secondary resistance makes up the largest part of the path resistance. The percent increase in resistance due to the plug wires is very small and has very little effect on the total circuit resistance and therefore has very little effect on the spark current.
