Glass pack vs resonator

Wow, where do I start? I guess I will try to break this down and answer in sections, beginning with your quotes.
1. "Seems you have no issue spending it elsewhere." Actually, that is incorrect. I will spend, but I try to look for the best value for my money.
2."Money is not only spent for HP/TQ. Ease of installation and appearance are also important as well as materials that protect that appearance." What is easier to install, then a stock LT1 exhaust? Appearance? That is just an opinion. In fact, you can do a search and you will find some who look for aftermarket mufflers with the black rectangular shaped tips. Some believe that the dual round tips coming out of a rectangular opening is cheap and has that rice look. Myself, I dont care, I like them both. Materials that protect that appearance? Not sure how that applies.
3. "Unless "Race Car" and appearance means zero. " Actually, race car, and appearance means quite a bit to me, but again, so does value for my dollar.
4. "I just find it odd that you seem to have no problem spending enough money to get to 460hp to the rear wheels "on a C4" but somehow the exhaust seems to bother you." At this point, I would like to ask you a few questions
a. What do you think it cost to build that motor? Over the next few days, I will try to add up my receipts, and we can see how close your guess is!!
b. Would you tell me what exhaust system would serve me better? The factory exhaust is stainless steel 2.75 pipes. and they seem to last forever....
In closing, I want to say 2 things,
1. It seems to me, that you "think" I have a ragged out race car and looks or other issues mean nothing to me. If that is correct, then you are wrong. Below, I have posted a picture of my car, so others can decide.....
2. This is my personal opinion, but I do not like the sound of the Corsa system. To me, it has a tinny, raspy, megaphone sound...... I prefer the deep bass american muscle sound. .... But again, that is my opinion.
Butt hurt much? That was mostly a joke because I know there was a decedent spend to get there and you are taking a poke at the price of a Corsa system I guess? Don't take it so personal.
You were the one that mentioned not spending money "On a C4". That was your justification not mine. You insinuated C4s are cheap and not worth dropping money into. Your words...
The fit/finish and installation comment was much more general as it applies not only too exhaust systems but also applies to other parts. Seen a few folks on here with Ebay Headers, shifters, and the like. they paid a lot more time and money out the back end than they could have upfront.
1. You don't want my opinion on your car.
2. It shouldn't matter anyway. Your money, build what you want how you want.
3. Learn to take a joke and laugh
And just for S&G's I would say your question is loaded. You asked how much I think you spent on the motor. Even though we all know it takes more than just the motor to make and get that power to the ground. Since that was the question I would say $2500-$3500 in the motor. I would assume you had to add headers, larger fuel injectors, a bigger pump, tuning, and I am sure some other things.
Spending $2k on pipe is for dummies or show-offs.
If you can't find humor in spending thousands on a motor in a car, and then turn around and justify not buying another component that has a high price tag for the same car because in reference to it's low value isn't humorous hypocrisy, well just like everything else; we all have our own flavor we enjoy.
Back pedaling, hardly. I never faced this decision. My car had an expensive exhaust system on it when I bought it. I have said before in other threads, I am exceptionally happy it is there... would I come out of pocket to buy it. Not sure. Curious on this though, do you think 93Ragtop can't post for himself?

Even though many cars ARE actually drivers...even if you have a different kind of car, you still don't need a $2k exhaust to meet the criteria for an exhaust. If we look back in this thread, we can see that 93Ragtop has posted already. That is strong evidence that he can post for himself. I'm confident that he can. I was posting for MYself.

I didn't say one thing about your car other than you spent the money to get to 460hp. That's all I knew until now. I didn't "think" anything of it. Since you went there and posted a pic, I will just say this in closing.
1. You don't want my opinion on your car.

So, here I go again, trying to explain this to you. Try to listen!!

1. "
Butt hurt much? " No, not at all, just trying to reason with you!!2. "That was mostly a joke because I know there was a decedent spend to get there and you are taking a poke at the price of a Corsa system I guess? Don't take it so personal." Got to tell you, not much of a joke, in fact it seems that you were butt hurt that I dont see the value in a 1500 dollar exhaust!! If, in my opinion, there was a value, I would have them. But honestly, I would not trade my stock exhaust for a corsa. I just dont like the sound. Sorry if that leaves you butt hurt.
3. "You insinuated C4s are cheap and not worth dropping money into. Your words..." Where did I say that?
4. "The fit/finish and installation comment was much more general as it applies not only too exhaust systems but also applies to other parts." Nope, we were talking about exhaust, in fact, earlier, you told the OP, and I quote, "You get what you pay for. Sorry, but what did you expect out of Magnaflows?" I brought up that I felt the stock exhaust along with headers is one of the best values on a C4. I guess that left you butt hurt.
5. "I didn't say one thing about your car other than you spent the money to get to 460hp. That's all I knew until now." That is simply not true, here is what you said. "I just find it odd that you seem to have no problem spending enough money to get to 460hp to the rear wheels "on a C4" but somehow the exhaust seems to bother you"
Since you seem to be wanting to read between the lines, add to the story, whatever, let me tell you what I think about you.
You seem to be a "know it all" who gets butt hurt if someone looks at something different then you. It would seem that Kyle's opinion is the only right one, and if someone disagrees, you go on the attack.
In reality, there is not a lot of value in most C4's at this time, and in my opinion, there never will be.
Which brings me to my next point about you.
I suspect you way overpaid for your C4. ....Your supercharged corsa exhaust LT4 is a $10,000.00 car and in reality does not run all that well, compared to other cars!!
And for that, it leaves you butt hurt!

Understood, headers are not for everybody...... If drone is your main concern, I would do the following.
1. Contact magnaflow and see what they have to say. They advertise the system as having a mild interior sound.....
2. Have you considered plugging one of the 2 tips on each muffler. In the past, there has been several post with people doing this on performance mufflers to eliminate the drone.
3. Since you purchased the car with the magnaflow on it, I wonder if by chance someone gutted the cat. that is on the car? You could take it loose on the downstream side and look in there to see. If so, that may be part of your problem.
4. Again, this may not be for you, but since you said you want to keep the magnaflow, and dont mind getting rid of the cat, maybe consider getting an exhaust shop to make a set of true dual pipes coming from the exhaust manifolds to just before the rear axle, and then adding a magnaflow dual inlet and outlet muffler in the system..... Something like the magnaflow 11386.... In addition, it has a built in X pipe. which may help... If you look at the magnaflow system on a 92-96 it would be very similar to that.
Good luck, and let us know what you do.
So the real rub is this - I have 5 cars right now and the Vette gets the best gas mileage of any of them (I get 15 city, 25 highway). I drive about 350 miles one way to Florida once or twice a month for work and the drone is what keeps me out of the Vette and in the Mercedes or the Suburban for that drive (both of them get 14 mpg highway). It is more fun to drive the Vette and I can handle the ride but 6 hours with the drone is not relaxing.
