Window regulator - needs replacement or adjustment?
As I'm working on my 84 C4, a new issue has arisen: when closing the passenger window, the window doesn't fully stop. Instead, I get a "clack-clack-clack" until I release the window raise switch. Thing about it is that it only happens when raising the window when the door is closed. This leads me to thing the regulator tape may not be broken (yet), but rather the window assembly may need adjusting.
Early vetts have the tape like the vid shows.
i don't know what's happening where your getting the clacking, but i suspect its the regulator tape.
i did the one in my car, it was broken when i bought the car.
it was not that bad of a job if i remember correctly.
i now have the later style scissor type regulator installed.
it's a huge improvement, but you have to drill holes at the bottom of your door to mount it.
i suspect you need to pull the motor and replace the tape, that plastic gets brittle with age.
