How's it going. Everything about a c4 is probaly old news. Ya'll probaly herd it all by now. I joined this forum cause I need to fix my car. Sent to the paint shop and didn't make it home without having trouble codes. I found a bad EGR valve and a bad pressure regulator lean on left bank got better but still isn't right. Don't even know where to start with 78. I tried to search the forums and couldn't find anything.
I'd swap out the O2 sensor o the left bank and see if that solves it. Those do go bad with time, but I wouldn't be surprised if upon investigation you found some wiring issue. For the code 83, I'd check the wiring to the transmission, see if there's anything wonky going on down there, ie unplugged, broken, etc.

Pretty easy to test an o2 sensor. You can do a crude test with a multimeter or an accurate test with a scope. A reasonable scope can be had for around $100 if you have a laptop that can be used.
Avoid throwing parts at a problem whenever possible.

Gonna be honest... I'd throw a o2 sensor at it before throwing a $100 scope at it. Crude test, sure I'd do that.

A scope would give him the ability to diagnose many many problems besides this one.I certainly did not mean to imply that the scope was just for one test. An 02 can be very labor-intensive by the way.. they usually dont pop right out
Anyway, look up where the 02 is connected to your ecu. Connect a voltmeter to it and watch that its cycling from like .2 to .8 volts or something like that.. you will have to watch close and it will be very random. If you get a scope I believe there us a illustration of that it should look like in the fsm.
I wrote a review of a $125 scope I just bought.. just look up my started threads. You can also buy a tech 2 knock off for a little less which will also help immensely. Im too old to throw parts now.. I take the time to diagnose. Look up oscilloscope o2 sensor on you tube. Those little buggers can last a long time.
