Default 1994 6spd reverse lights no longer working

Hey guys, I have a 1994 Corvette 6spd and my reverse lights are no longer working. To my knowledge, they were working up until earlier today when I was trying to hardwire a reverse cam. I got one of those cameras that mount to the top of the license plate and it has a power cable with ground and a video RCA cable with power for switching. I spliced the power cable for the camera and the power cable for the RCA cable to the green cable going to the driver side reverse light and spliced the ground for the camera to the black cable connecting to the same reverse light. I had to jump the 'Vette as it's been sitting for a while but now neither reverse lights are working. Would this be something to do with the switch on the transmission? Like I said, I'm assuming that the lights were working before (I rarely check) but both being out instead of just the one I spliced seems odd. Also I can tell that the camera isn't getting power because there's no video feed going to the headunit.

Any ideas?

I spliced my backup camera to the backup switch line somewhere in the console if I remember. You should get an FSM to verify that you've got it wired correctly. Otherwise you could disconnect the camera wires and then check if the reverse lights begin working again. If not then you may want to begin checking fuses in case the camera connections may have shorted the backup line to ground accidentally.

Check the fuse, then rethink the wire job, you might want to use a relay.

You can test your reverse lights by unplugging the connector going to the switch on the transmission and jumping it with a paperclip. If they light up, the switch is bad. If they don't light up, it could be the fuse.....or worse.

I removed mine, soaked the business end in solvent, and then beat it on a table. Whatever is inside of this thing worked loose and it started functioning again.
