I was driving my 92 home this afternoon and it had rained and was misty. I turned the wipers on for a few minutes then when I turned the switch off they continued running.. I worked the switch a few times on and off and they never shut off. Just as I was going to pull off the road and pull the fuse they turned off on their own. Does anybody have a clue whats wrong?
You don't need to replace the whole motor. The factory manual has a chart with common wiper problems and their most likely causes. For "Wiper won't shut off", it lists the probable cause as a faulty park switch.
The wiper motor on my '92 had similar problems, and replacing the park switch fixed it. The park switch is a small part inside the motor itself. To replace it you just have to remove the black plastic wiper motor cover, so it's not too difficult. I got mine from The Last Detail at http://www.tld-corvette.com or 770-414-0077. The price was $37, which is better than $131 for a new motor. The park switch is not in the catalog, so you have to ask them. I bet that'll fix your problem!
