Well I just talked to my dad. I'm away at a conference and will not be home until Thursday. He brought my damaged cylinder head to the master welder guy today to have a look at it. He looked at it and said no sweat. He's going to heliarch it and clean it up a little bit. He told my dad that he had a guy with a hemi head come in last year that was damaged in a similar way yet far worse. Said that person is still running the same heads today without issue. :) So good news so far!!
Once we get it back from him I'll have the heads milled equal amounts if the new weld is above the deck surface. So it looks like she might be back in action if I get some decent weather.
I live in southeasten MA about 30 mins from the coast. Thankfully we got rain in my area and it hasn't dipped below freezing much. In other areas of the state though there are still people without power. A guy I work with had to report to a few towns for an emergency today and they have 1/2" of ice layered everywhere. High tension powerlines have even snapped under the ice. I'm talking lines that can only be re-string with helicoptors between towers.
Some areas just look like a bomb went off from trees falling apart under the stresses of the ice. There were about 10,000 people in MA w/o power and over 100k in CT without power. The guys from the national grid have been going crazy the past few days trying to get things going again.
That's great to hear. I'm glad you got away lucky! be sure to take some pics of re-assembly. I just did a whole bunch in my photo book for when I go to shows(Or those who wish to see the car's history). I'm like a kid in the candy store with the new hp digi cam and photo printer. Who needs film developed? Not with this thing. :D
Hopefully I can finally meet you and the guys this summer out at Englishtown.
You are definately right about the weather. I took my Vette up from Yorktown north to Stanford NY alonmg the Taconic at 3:45 AM yesterday to go deer hunting with my Niece's husband Eric. Past Fahnstock Park the snow started coating the grass shoulder, then the parkway  , 20 minutes later I could only see 20 ft in front of me  , by Baird state park I thought I was a gonner but pushed on(on my BF Goodrich Drag Radials....cause I failed inspection this Saturday...2 year old rear tires slightly bald in center), finally made it to the park and ride lot at Bull Head Road and Eric and his friends eyes almost popped out of their heads when they saw me pull up only 15 minutes late
BTW, I got a ;large Doe yesterday after freezing my butt off in my tree stand for over 5 hours.
Moral of the story....Corvettes are great in snow under 3 inches deep    :jester :yesnod:
Great news and good luck.
Hell, we all thought you died, not hearin from you in a day or 2 is really scary.
Alright guys I'm sending back all the money you gave me for flowers for Scorp. Wait a minute after I pay for the stamp there's nothing left.
Thats good news! I missed a couple of days posting so I don't know what you did to check the block, but I hope the head is all the problem. I'm still wondering how the water got in the oil.
