I'm replacing rear y and muffler's on my stock 1990 L98. I was told by the muffler shop that the Walkers were a nice quietest muffler for my application. What do you think? Will the Walker's create a substantial increase in interior drone? I was quoted $840 installed for Catback installed, is this in line?
:seeya
Ouch... that seems high for an OEM style replacement. For about that price you could get a better exaust system. Are they doing any custom fabrication? If so, then maybe that price isnt so far outta line. I'm sure that some others will chime in.
FWIW

Seems a little pricey for a factory replacement setup. I have a little over $700 (parts and labor) in my exhaust. High flow main cat, precats eliminated and flowmasters.
I have the Dynomax Super Turbo mufflers on my 89 coupe. Paid around $259 from Mid America and had the local shop install them for $75.00. They are alittle louder than stock but not loud.
I had a custom rear Y pipe made, and two mufflers I bought somwhere else installed for $135. Took about 1.5hrs to bend and match the Y, about 20 minutes for the mufflers to be welded on. I'd be wary of that shop unless their labor rate is like 200/hr, lol. Someone's taking you for a ride.
I had a Dynomax Super Turbo on my Z24 (previous car) and it was pretty loud, but then again it was on a 4 banger, but dude 800 bucks seems way high, the muffler I bought was like 40 bucks from RamChargers
I paid $449 for Walker rear Y-pipe and Dynomax Ultra Flow Stainless mufflers (ordered from MAD). I installed them myself and a local muffler shop welded the catback solid for $10.
IMO $840 is way too much.
Sound is very low rumble that sounds very nice in WOT. Louder than stock at any rpm. There is some resonance though.
Thats way overpriced. For that much you could get a Borla SS NICE set..
Another thing, a buddy has those on an '87 and they resonate at cruise speeds like crazy. Annoying as ALL HELL... :U
I'd have to agree with all that the price that was quoted was alot out of hand.
I got the mufflers and rear y from JEGS, and had a local shop put them on this morning.
Installation cost $50...SWEEET!
Purchase price $340...
Amount saved by walking out of gouge shop...PRICELESS!!!
My mufflers are smoking like headliners at the reggae fest in Hombolt. Yeah they are louder than stock, nice and deep enough...can't wait to burn them in then put some pressure on them this weekend.
