I am looking at using Carbotech XP8 pads for open track days in my stock '94 with J55 brakes. I would like to prep the car at home and drive to the track with these pads and the pad description says these aren't for a daily drive due to dust and noise, but are they tolerable for a 200-mile round trip to the track? Also, should I get rear XP8 pads as well or something less aggressive?
Thanks!

I drove on those to and from the track and they were fine. Sometimes they did squeal at a stop light. I've had 10's on the front and 8's on the rear too. If you haven't installed the DRM brake bias spring it would probably be okay to use 8's all around. Bed the brakes at the track?
I haven't done the DRM bias spring, no. I'll do XP8 front and rear if that will work well. Someone before me installed cross drilled rotors. Hopefully they survive. I will bed the brakes before the event.
Years ago I used Hawk HP+ pads on my Neon and when bedded in they were good for only a few cold street stops before they would eat through the transfer layer and squeal like an old city bus. Put them on the track and they would quiet down and then do a few more cold stops without squealing.
The XP8 is fine to drive on the street, yes, you will have some noise and I would do front and rear. I would even prefer to run XP10 front 8 rear. They are fine on the street as well.
