I have engine smoke on driver side near exhaust. I see no evidence of oil leaking by oil filter on cat/converter. I believe i have fluid hitting exhaust as I drive causing it to burn.
There is fluid on bottom of car toward the area of the front engine. you can see it drip underneath. It is difficult to see what is leaking though.
I can see what I think is the power steering reservoir hose to the pump buy alternator leak or get holes? Kind of at a loss on how to determine the location as it is hard to see.
Have you wrenched on some fittings or moved something recently? Or maybe a rubber line has gone bad. I'd start reaching around and find where you can feel some fluid. Your power steering is also right smack in front of your engine's balancer, but I know you said it's close the driver's side manifold.
If it's hot (or if the engine is cold, your oil will obviously feel slick and lubey, and the coolant will feel like water and smell sweet), it's either oil or water/coolant. If not, it's going to be either brake or power steering fluid (more chemical smelling fluids). I hope you find out what it is, leaks are a safety concern in my book!
Stick a paper towel under anything you think is leaking , like the power steering pump and the waterpump... When you check the paper towels the next day it will let you know which one is leaking fluid. Try to lay the paper towels out flat under the area you think is leaking...This is the way I always find out where leaks are coming from....WW
Thanks yall, I put a pan under there to see. I have 2 drips over night that stained concrete. So i can rule out coolant at this point for the leak I am trying to pin point. The engine was rebuilt 2 years ago, and hasn't seen alot of driving. I just bought it. I will post more tomorrow, and boy oh boy I hope this website don't mind all my newb posts.
