Default 4.09 read end speedometer question

I'm planning to install 4.09 gears in my LT4. What is the drill to correctly register speed? I'm assuming there's a change that's made at the transmission sending unit. Anyone have the what, how, who of this one?
Thanks
P.S. If anyone has a LT4 with 4.09 gears, how's it working on the street, highway and the track?

A gear change for a 1996 LT4 is going to require a reprogramming of the computer.

Popular ways to reprogram for gears include: Hypertech power programmer, sending the computer out to any number of programmer guys (like pcmforless.com, etc.)

See ya,
John
