Last week I was driving to work and suddenly there was a noticeable
loss of power and the engine started backfiring during acceleration.
I checked the timing and it is right on (6 deg). The plugs and plug wires
are less than a year old. No code is being thrown (check enging light is
not on). This is a 1990 (L98) automatic with 135,000 miles. Does anyone
have any idea what might be causing this? I am stumped. Any assistance
would be much appreicated. thanks.
Re: Something wierd is happening with my engine (nice90)
Have you checked your cap, coil, rotor, and ignition control module lately? Are all your plug wires tied up and away from hot spots. The symptoms sound alot like a grounding plug wire or even a fouled plug. I know you said they were a year old, but things happen. Good luck
