I know they fit a 96, and I think 88 thru 96 are all the same, this pic has C5 rears (18" x 9.5") on front and C5 Z06 (18" x 10.5") on the rear and fit with no problems, stock suspension.

Yes you can use the C5 wheels with no issues. The front 17" wheels may sit inboard a bit. If you want them more flush with the fenders, you may need to run a spacer/adapter. I run the 18x9.5 at all four corners while autocrossing and there are no issues.

The rims I have are the five spoke rims, same as on the C5 LeMans Blue Commemorative Edition. Not like the early C5 wheels that are flat.. Thanks Again

The C5 commemorative are the same backspacing as what you call "flat", yes, they will fit. As for spacers, a 1/2" is fine. If you look at my pic above you can see I have longer wheels studs installed so I can run 1/2" spacers if I wish. The spacers are NOT installed in the pic above. I DO run those spacers on the front IF I have 18" x 10.5" Z06 wheels on the front running 315 tires to prevent minor tire rub at full lock steering on the plastic inner fenders at maximum negative camber.

I also have a 2004 C5 Z06 Commemorative Edition Z16 and have run those wheels on my 1996 with no issues, used them as rain tires in autocrossing.

Your good to go, 17" or 18" without spacers. If you want spacers, 1/2" is plenty, but you need longer studs, so you gotta take off the bearing / hub assembly and press out the stock and install new

Default C5Z wheels on early C4?

Now that the OP's question has been answered, I hope he won't mind if I ask a similar type question. Anyone run a set of C5Z 18/17 inch wheels on an early (narrower) C4?

Thanks for any input.

What's earlier? I run C5 wheels on my '90 with 3/4" spacers in the front and 1" in the back. It gets a lot of compliments.

He means 84-87, which require less offset because their hub faces are about 18mm inboard compared to later C4s that have "zero-scrub radius" geometry. You can certainly run those wheels on an early C4, but you'll want to use spacers to push them outward a bit (i.e., subtract some of their offset). In back, I believe 3/4" spacers would be correct, and probably up front too.
