Air pump motor
How much noise should I expect to hear when this pump motor is running? I think its quite noticeable, I can easily hear it when first starting the car if I'm standing beside it.

I should have mentioned that this is a '93 and the air pump is self powered. To me is sounds like the bearings are worn but I don't have another car nearby that I can listen to. The other regulars who turn up for our runs are driving earlier C4 versions.

if it's an electric one I would not worry to much if it does give up the ghost it will not harm anything it just pumps air into your exhaust during the first few moments of running to lower your emissions.
