Default Advice needed

Calling all 84 Crossfire guys. I have just rebuilt my engine. Kept the TBI, installed 202 heads with 62cc combust, Renegade intake, Advertised Duration 250/260, Lift .432/.444 CAM. 180 thermo. What do I need to do to the computer (if anything) when I put the engine back in the car? Will it run on its own or do I need to tune or replace the ECM. If so what do I replace it with? I don't know much when it comes to the ECM and I keep getting mixed answers. Some tell me nothing needs done because the cam is mild and others say because its 202 heads it will completely screw up the ECM. I am looking for someone who has either done this before or someone who knows this car really well. Thank you. Also, I've already replaced the fuel pump with an 85 pump. Also did a smog delete.

i think it will work ok with the stock ECM, if you want to tune it I would recommend getting a EBL flash II from Dynamic EFI. You can also get a HAM board from @Buccaneer which will allow your harness to plug straight in. Can I ask why you chose those heads?

I guess you’re referring to something like a Chevy 370 casting? There are lots of threads here about what the best heads are so probably not much point getting into that here but I think they will be ok with the factory ECM.

Heads are a good choice but you will not get anything out of them until you work on "breathing."

The choke point for any L83 is first the intake and then exhaust. You either need to get a Renegede intake or be prepared to port the sh*t out of your factory. The intake is robbing you of 35hp-- heads , cam or not. You need to ad a set of headers (long tube) and then a performance catalyst.

Bump the timing to 8-12 (depending on what you car likes) and then you are good to go. You ECM worry is meaningless until you make the above changes. Even then, your ECM is pretty forgiving.

You should be able to start, run, and drive OK. Probably will run a bit crappy though and certainly won't be what you expect, nor optimized.

IMO your best solution is: EBL - Dynami EFI. You don't need to do a lot to help that tune a lot. The EBL even helps with the VE tables.
