Hello guys..on my '91 vert, I have a "door ajar" indicator light that stays on the past few days. Can anyone pass on some info on diagnosing this problem? Thanks all in advance. :chevy
I have read that the problems may be with the switches, but I can't seem to find the switch on my '91. (I may be crazy...), but I have both door panels off the Vette (I am in the process of painting the car), and I cannot see any "plungers" on the door or the jamb, like are normally on the doors of cars. I am sure I am overlooking the obvious, but could someone tell me where the door switches are on a '91? Thanks guys...
If they're in the same place as my '92 coupe, they're on the door and face the body of the car as you close the door. They're on the rear edge of the door fairly low. They're not in the door panels, so check from the edge of the door panel out to the edge of the door.
When you find them, you'll see that there is a small pin in the middle of the plastic plunger. Pry the pin outward a little with a small flat screwdriver, and that should fix the problem if it's just the switch adjustment. Do the interior lights come on when the door ajar light is on? If so, it's probably just the switch adjustment. Good luck!
Thanks, Blackbird....I can't locate them anywhere..I may just be missing them though I don't see how...The interior lights of the Vette have never worked, in the 7 years I have owned the car, and I have searched for the "plunger" type switches before, without any luck. I thought that that may be the problem with the light, but I am still unable to locate the switches....

Check around door edges and on the door jam itself
on mine, the switch is a black plunfer on the rear edge of the door. On the door jam, there is a round, nickel size. black plastic or rubber grommet that the plunger contacts.
Over time the pieces wear and don't make full contact. My light would flicker.
I added a thickness of duct tape to the grommet, problem solved
Hopefully you will find the switches. My 89 has two on each door, front and rear. I don't know which one does what, but i had the same problem. I found some little clear self-stick silicon pads at Walmart. I think they are used to put on the bottom of things so they won't slide around. I put one on each spot where the plunger touches the body and no more problems.
