If you noticed metal speckles it would make more sense to vacuum out the master cylinder, (vacuum type brake bleeder) instead of pushing the contaminants downstream. Simply remove it, pour out contents in a clean container, and while you are at it estabilish whether metal particles are ferrous or not( any cheap magnet will do). Cleaning out the master cylinder and replacing it or simply replacing t if you dont mind the possibility of the new unit also getting metal particles in it. As per the ABS , there are posts as how to read ABS codes on dash.

The metal flaking could actually be brake pad material getting past seals and into the brake fluid. It can work it's way back up to the master cylinder. I wouldn't worry about it too much unless you start to have a leaky caliper. I would suck out all fluid in the reservoir and refill with new fluid. Then hook up your pressure bleeder and do a good bleed on the entire system until each caliper runs with clear new fluid. Make sure not to let the reservoir go dry in this process.

As for the ABS light, it is probably a sensor in the system not acting correctly. Next time it does that, pull the codes from the computer and look into what might be causing it.

I would flush everything. Suck out the old fluid, clean up the reservoir and put fresh fluid in. Flush the lines. After that, find someone who can cycle the ABS and flush that too.
