Removing LT4 crank hub
I have been trying to remove the crank hub for some time. Each time I would try I had no success, so I would just move onto another item of need on the engine and come back to it later. I checked my manual and they just said use X tool for the job, not explaining why. I got the balancer off with a good smack from a 2x4 then it just rocked off of there no problem. But when I hooked up the puller the hub wouldn't budge. Heated it, nothing. Put a breaker bar extension on it, nothing. Finally saw a tip on removal from an old thread from 2018. He left the hub bolt in place but loosened some. I lined up the puller on that bolt and just a little bit of pressure it came loose. Moved the bolt out some more and it came all the way loose. I didn't know the hub had a lip inside there that basically hid the end of the crank and the puller was pulling on the inside of the hub itself and not against the crack end. I just wanted to let others know about this in case they are going to be pulling the actual hub any time soon.
Since it isn't keyed I am guessing re-installing doesn't matter where it lines up???
