Installing the hub I find myself questioning if it is seated all the way. There seems to be a 1/2” gap between the flange on the hub and the timing cover. I installed by threading a hardened threaded rod into the crank until it bottomed, then pressed the hub on with some washers and a nut. It went on without a fuss and I stopped when it felt like it bottomed. I was pretty certain it bottomed. Does it look too far out of the timing cover to you?
What you are seeing in the pic below: shiny part is a repair sleeve for grooves in the hub set to the max depth the install tool would allow, the line of red is just a little anaerobic sealer that is under the sleeve.

Watching this as im about to do the same to mine, its not out although motor still in the car, ill try measure it if i can tomorrow.
Looks close but I would put the balancer on and the alternator and ck with a straight edge if it's lined up. Also make sure the hub bolt is torqued properly.
9t3vette, thank you for the pic, much appreciated. Eyeballing, looks about the same as my motor. This weekend I should get the accessory bracket on and be able to line up the alt to the crank pulley to validate its correct.
