Its a never ending job to keep any kind of vehicle rust free here in the NE part of the country. I live dead east of you, about 190 miles as the crow flies. Ohio uses tons of salt that eats up vehicles, which, along with the humidity, rusts cars that aren't driven in the winter.
I keep a jug of Evapo Rust here at the house and when I work on the car, any fastener that has the slightest hint of rust goes for an overnight soak and gets painted before being put back.
I do the same with my truck, the tractor and soon the utility trailer.

I now have over 220,000 miles on the C4 in the video, I bought it with 163,000 miles on it and it definitely looked like it had been used as a daily driver in the winter by previous owners, so mine is most likely the exception than the rule.
