87 - crank, pop, no start
I gave it a 1 second burst of ether, then started the car. It fired right up and ran for a few seconds. So I think we've narrowed it down to the injectors not firing (also confirmed by the noid light).
see if one drawing it down
With vehicle in a nostart mode still measure injector resistance again just to be sure
Make sure still have power there too

Not sure I understand. You're saying to ohm the injectors again, but with the key in the run position?
The VATS unit itself had failed. He replaced it with this: https://newrockies.com/
Apparently, I am *supposed* to have a second horn under the hood specific to the security system. Mine was removed at some point in the life of the car... so when the VATS module failed, it was triggering the alarm, which didn't actually sound because the horn wasn't there.
So, I ended up spending a lot more than I needed to, between his labor, and all the unnecessary parts I replaced-- but there's a whole lotta new under the hood now, so hopefully I won't have any more serious problems for a while.
Thank you to all of you who contributed to this thread with advice and suggestions-- I really appreciate your help!
