What Laptop Do I Need?
Want to run Datamaster to capture data on my 92 LT1, and need to buy a used laptop.
What speeds and ram should a be looking for?

Make sure the laptop has a serial port. I puchased a computer without a serial port and even with port replicators couldn't get Tunercat to work. I ended up sending the laptop back and getting one with a serial port. Now Tunercat and Datamaster work fine.

Just so you know. I am running both TC and Datamaster and my Needhams EMP-10 on a Toshiba Tecra 730XCDT laptop for all my stuff. Works great so far with Windows98 as the OS. Made sure I got one with a CDROM drive, but had to buy the FDD unit. Spent about $225 all together for the laptop/fdd unit with shipping off ebay. I have 128MB RAM and standard 2GB HDD. This one comes with the serial port, parallel port separate mouse and keyboard ports as well. Built in modem too, but haven't tried to use it. Also has a separate video out just in case the screen dies. Processor is a P1-150MHz, so nothing blazing fast for sure. But, don't need it either.
