Default Solid flywheel?

I bought a SPEC stage 2 clutch disc and noticed when it arrived that its unsprung. So considering im going to use an aluminum fidanza flywheel I think I need to return the SPEC and look for a sprung hub. So while shopping for a replacement I see carolina clutch has some good looking discs, however they warn that their disc must use a solid flywheel. Im pretty sure the fidanza is not solid as it has a removable friction surface.

My question is what is the requirement to use solid flywheel? what happens if you use the fidanza with one of their discs?

uhhhh , yeah the lightweight louis fidanza alum flywheel (with replaceable steel friction surface) is a solid flywheel !

thats what i have been running for years (with a spec stage 3+ Sprung hub clutch). Love it

yea you did the right thing by noticing you needed a sprung hub clutch (bc you got rid of the dual mass dampener flywheel)

Great! Thanks for the reply Diz. I ordered another spec disc but with a spring hub.

Yes, just to add: that flywheel has a replaceable friction surface, but it's still a solid (single-mass) flywheel because they move as once piece when the friction plate is bolted on. The dual-mass flywheel actually has a separate mass that moves independently of the "main" casting (constrained with springs and travel limits). So it's a very different thing. Yeah, if you had installed that unsprung disk, you would have regretted it!
