Default Headlight Motor

My headlight will flip about halfway up then stop. If i help it along the way and will go all the way and stay, but otherwise it just stops halfway. Also, if i just turn on the fogs when i turn the lights off the motor keeps running for a while.

Sounds like it's time to go to http://www.ecklers.com and buy (2) packs of p/n: 29304. They are the three bushings for each motor. They are about $5 per pack and you may as well do both because if one side is bad the other side is right behind it.

There is a good article in tech tips on the procedure, it's real easy... :smash:

The mail order suppliers also charge another $5 or so to ship them to you. Total? ~$15. Home Depot and Lowes carry the bushings for about 15 cents each - You'll need 6 to rebuild both headlight gearboxes. Total? ~$.90 + tax.

Your call.

I agree with the posts above which suggest the bushings might be the issue...however here is another possibility. When I attempted to fix mine it was the nylon gear that was gone. I replaced it with the brass one seen in the catalog. That was 2 1/2 years ago and they still work as designed.

Good point. If he follows the procedure for disassembly given in the tech tip, the condition of the gear will be evident upon its removal.
