Although I live in S Fl, don't use the a/c much....keep the roof off and drive when it's cooler.....recently put the roof back on, now it doesn't seem like the fan is blowing like I remember....it's blowing but doesn't seem right to me.....any further tests to see if I need a new one other than this observation?.....big deal to put one in? thanks, Paul
I can't help with diagnosing the issue but as far as replacing the squirrel cage fan assembly it is cheap and easy. I think only 5 screws holding it in. There might have been a hose in the way and I had to take out a few screws from the fender well to get room but the whole job took a half hour. You may want to check the relay first. It is located directly below the blower motor. Mine was stuck on high. Replaced it and now it works beautifully.

thanks, being in S Florida this time of year, I could live with just "high"......
Make sure your air is not going past the accumulator tubes and cooling the engine. My seals or caulk was cracked and I had to put sealant around them. Good Luck!
did some research last night...don't believe the relay could cause the fan not to work on "high" only......gonna keep checking.....at least it works and does cool the car, but not a quick anymore.....blasted hot down here now.....
I thought you had a low fan problem. When I bought my car it only worked on high, which is default when it is bad. I took off the resistor connector and cleaned it good with electrical cleaner and it has worked normally since 2014. Mine was above the ac in the engine bay.(85).

Yes, it works on low, med....as I recall there were 4 speeds...not sure....high does not work.....from my research, it's a bad relay if it "stays" in high......I'll keep looking.....not even really summer yet here.....the air is cool, med will cool it, not to my satisfaction....used to work so good it always reminded me of the U>P> of Michigan where I'm from.....not really hot up there along lake Superior.....
Most likely a blower motor resistor if you have lost one or more of your fan speeds. My 85 would only work on high. Ordered a replacement resistor from rockauto and swapped it out quick and easy.
I had to change the motor because it was making a bearing noise.
new motor was around $30 at autozone, about 10 years ago.
i have the auto controller in the dash, and it works based on the “programmer” At the base of the steering column up by the pedals inside the car.
its electropneumatic, as it has electrical coils that control the vacuum to different features in the heater system
