Default Data log from data master to Tunerpro

Hi,
So I’m willing to make the switch from logging in data master to Tunerpro RT.
I’m not familiar with RT and need some advice on the info displayed while logging. Looks like I have a basic dashboard with no other options.
Also once I log is there a way to export the data to excel ?
Running 165 ecu on 88 Vette, 4+3
I do have it connecting to the laptop and it’s recording.
thx

Are you talking about actively scanning while the car is running, or opening/viewing datalogs afterwards?

What brand ALDL cable are you using? Can't get mine to work and may just get another cable. Heard good things about motes.

See post #37 for an example 8192 baud adx if the link doesn't take you there directly.

You can easily export log data to a csv file with TunerPro/TunerPro RT. See the Acquisition menu.

It’s 1988, think I have been using in 10k mode all the time in Datamaster, so with Tunerpro RT it’s different? My cable has 3 positions. Short A/B, open , and 10k

Thx, I will check that out. So is it 32B or 6E?
i can’t use 6E because it won’t shift the 4+3 into overdrive.

Actually both. I’m so used to seeing all the information with Datamaster right there, then able to pick spots on the log. Like histogram.
So I just hit record and that’s it till I stop? I’m going to try the dash that was mentioned in this post and to connect correctly by switching off the 10k and see if stays connected.
I think I was getting miss information with the 10k still on. Like different timing etc.

The datastreams are very similar between $32B and $6E. This adx file can be used for either, but there may be a few minor discrepancies for some of the bit fields here and there. You are free to edit the adx to correct any errors that you may encounter. It is probably more correct for $32B (since that is what I use myself). I have many different adx files, so I can't guarantee that they are all 100% verified for every item. It should be sufficient to get you started.

Known differences (Byte 59):

$32B:
;-----------------------------
LC7D5 FDB $0004 ; 59 DNEE Mode Word
;
; Bit 0 = OVERDRIVE ON
; 1 = 1st GEAR DIRECT
; 2 = 1st GEAR LOOK-AHEAD OK
; 3 = 4th GEAR
;
; 4 = 1st GEAR OVERDRIVE
; 5 = DOWNSHIFT/OFF REQUEST
; 6 = UPSHIFT/ON REQUEST
; 7 = OVERDRIVE ACTIVE
;---------------------------------

$6E:
;-----------------------------
C6E3: FDB $0047 ; 59 CARS MODE WORD (CAGS)
;
; b0 1 = CARS ENABLED
; b1 1 = CARS ACTIVE
; b2 1 = SWITCH OPEN LAST TIME
; b3 1 = SWITCH RECOGNIZED AS CLOSED
;
; b4 1 = TRANSMISSION IN FOURTH GEAR
; b5 1 = TRANSMISSION IN FIRST GEAR
; b6 1 = WAIT FOR VEHICLE SPEED RESET
; b7 not used
;-----------------------------

I’m actually lost on the info you gave me here.
I don’t know how to change it. In hex editor?
currently running the mask you sent me a few years ago that really opened up options for the 4+3. I think you also changed my calculations for me after I did the rear gear swap to 3.54 so the ecu speed was correct. (Since then I’m running 18/17 rims staggered) and will need to change that again.
😁

What I have shown is just an example of known differences between the $32B and $6E datastreams, otherwise they are the same, except for some additional o/d and/or cars/cags bits here and there. You don't have to change anything, but be aware that the values shown may not be properly displayed properly by the adx depending upon which masked bin is used.

The adx file can be edited with TunerPro adx file editor if desired.

Thank you tequilaboy you have been helping me since day 1 👍
Now clarification on the handshake or to not run the 10k resistor while tuning?

You need the 10 k resistor in order to start the 160 baud ALDL datastream in the first place. Then you can connect/enter 8192 baud (Mode 1) via the handshake polling message. Once in 8192 baud, you can switch off the 10 k resistor, but I never do so, since the data can be interrupted randomly and it is necessary to key off for > 10 seconds, key on and reconnect again to continue scanning/logging.

If you happen to run around with the cable plugged in with 10 k resistor in 160 baud mode (or while not connected/scanning), you might not want to do this due to the 1,000 rpm idle and 8 degree ALDL spark advance adder that may be active. I always set the ALDL spark advance adder to zero, just in case.
