Default TV cable problem/install

Hey guys, I usually get my answers from the search function but was unable to find my answer this time. I have a 92 C4 with a built LT1 and a performabuilt 4l60. I've been having issues with the TV cable lately and what I believe it's doing is losing its adjustment from time to time. When I got it back from the shop where the car was built, the adjustment was not right, therefore I adjusted it per instructions found here(drill bit method). Everything was fine, but months later it stopped going into OD after going WOT in third gear, then the shift points were off. I adjusted it again, and it worked fine again. Now it keeps losing adjustment from time to time and it seems to correlate with WOT for more than a few seconds. The last time this happened I did a quick standing burnout. Again, adjusting the cable fixes the issue but it comes back with aggressive driving and is annoying. I have checked the governor and it's good. What could cause this issue? Bad TV cable? I did purchase a used spare TV cable from a 92/93 C4 (pictured below). Is this all I need? Or is there more cable that goes further into the trans. Also, can this be replaced with the trans in the car? I've looked at how the stock TV cable is routed and although I cant see where it connects to the trans it seems like it connects to the top of the trans and not accessible with the trans in the car. I've spent so much on this car over the last 12 years of ownership and I finally thought the car was done and this happens. Any advice would help. Also I would like to hear of different options to maybe get rid of the TV cable system (manual valve body, paddle shifter) especially if the trans has to be removed to fix this issue and not really knowing if the new used cable is any good. I'm sorry for the long post but I've been researching on and off for a couple of weeks on different forums and cant seem to find my answers. Thank you all for your time.

I would have talked to transmission shop about condition before playing with cable. If there is a warranty in effect you want to contact them regardless, discuss condition that shift cable isn't holding adjustment. Cable lock could worn and not holding. If you have manual review cable replacement introductions decide if that is something you want to attempt.
