Hello I need to purchase weatherstripping for my 1985 Corvette. Who do you guys recommend. Eckler's has two kits listed does anyone know the difference in the two kits. Is there a place I can find a kit for less money. RA is out of the full set. Thank you
I have purchased the weather stripping for my C4 from ZIP products. They offer it in two different types of rubber and occasionally have a sale. Choose the better rubber and it will last longer than the original junk they used. Wilcox Corvettes has sales on the sets frequently and they support us here on the Corvette Forum.
When you are replacing the rear window piece (if you have a coupe) they make two kinds of the corners. The cheaper ones are glued and the better seals are molded. Be very careful choosing the seals you buy as a bad choice will mean that you will have to do the job again down the road. I would only get them from a brand name company who will stand behind the product.
Spend lots of time cleaning out the old glue before attaching the new gaskets. Don't be alarmed if the rear window gasket appears to be too large. I found tape helps hold the seal in place while drying. Be sure to have lots of glue for weatherstripping as the small tubes are never enough for me.
