1984 egr
I have a 1988 C4 and had the same problem about fifteen years ago when I started looking for a replacement the the EGR Vacuum Solenoid. I did not know the part number but had a very hard time finding a working unit that looked similar to the one that came on my C4. Today they are readily available for most of the C4's in places like Zip Products for several of the years.
I went to a NAPA store and had one match one up for me made for GM vehicles. The control system uses Pulse Width Modulation to activate the solenoid and control the EGR on the 1988 C4. Have someone look up the same part used on other GM models for the same year and you should find something close. Zip has the EGR Vacuum Solenoid for 1985 thru 1991 L98's for $70 and it might work. I will defer to the experts we have on this Forum with the unique 1984 and 1985 Corvettes
As far as deleting the EGR, that is always available to do if you choose to go that way. I prefer to keep mine working as they actually help the engine run cooler and improve the performance. You should be able to find a close match on the part and make it work until one day somebody makes more of them.
