Modpath to beat Tesla and upcoming EV’s
dont tell me it cant be done, or i will start posting link after link of c4’s running 8s.
(ie. Just because yours (or mine) cant beat one, doesnt mean nobodys cant)
so that said, what do we need?
the super ram?
superchargers or turbos?
Nitrous?
how many cubic inches?

Most of thier speed in on the launch up to the 1/8mile mark and they are often being 'reeled in after that'. Without AWD it will be tough to beat thier ability to launch but certainly with some power you can run them down and pass at the top end.
As far as auto-x or track days go, given thier weight and limited endurance I think they would not be that hard to beat, 1/4mile racing sort of displays all the strengths of electric without any of the downsides that other types of racing expose.
As far as future EV's like the upcoming Telsa plaid tri-motor model S or the long rumored Tesla roadster (V2.) who know? Also don't forget the current model S is a $100k USD car, not cheap! So beating it with a 35yr old platform and less $$$ will take some planning, but can be done i'm sure.

As far as your other comments, you're spot on. A guy with a p85d was at a track day I went to at CMP, an easy and overall non technical course.. He got passed by a kid in a grand marquis that had never done a track day before. For day 2, he left the tesla at some (he ran out of juice after the 2nd session of day 1 anyways and spent the rest of the day trying to bum enough juice to get home) and drove day 2 in a new 911, which was much faster.
.
Teslas will perform better after the batteries are warmed up (before they start wearing out). I was out at Sonoma Raceway last October. A lady drove her Tesla sedan to the track. Her first run was 10.95, her second was 10.75. I raced her in the third round of time trials. She ran 10.61. I beat her, but it was closer than I would have thought. They are quick.

Or you beat her bc she slouched on the launch and you didnt?
just saw him last wknd and he said he destroyed the motor/broke ring lands racing a lamborghini
he said he hadnt torn down the engine yet, but he suspected broken ring lands.
i told him i thought that motor was indestructible. He said he had no idea what t he prior owner ‘did’ to it that may have damaged it
i dont think he was running any kind of meth inj or meth/water inj. He works at summit racing equip so I cant say he is dumb or doesnt have access to the right equipment/ tuning
the inportant thing is he said he was beating the lamborghini by 4-5 car lengths when the engine went at well over 100 mph.
im gonna guess it drives but is puffing smoke.
i dont know him well bc its my wifes college roomates ex-husband. So its rare I see him anymore
my problem (not being as mechincally inclined as you), is that i suspect the car will sit ‘down’ months longer as I struggle to fabricate/track down brackets and stuff to make it fit.
while i already have everything i need (expensive arh 1 7/8” headers/3” matching exhaust, solid motor mounts, tuning software that i understand, etc) to swap in a built 383 , 396, or larger sbc. Heck i even have a spare, oem optispark ready to go.
if i can pulley or turbo down (an sbc) to overcome lsx magical pixie dust abilities to make more power, then its as simple as doing that. Or if i make 1400 hp on a boost lsx, but only 1200 hp on a boost sbc - who cares.
theres other factors that are gonna win the 1/4 race.
Whether its ls swap or built sbc , theres no wrong way to do it
ive always loved your project bc you put the money in the top end of your motor. Blow up the bottom end, and you can drop in a new one for $500. Its brilliant

Its certainly not the only way to do it. You can do it with a 4-cylinder with enough work.
There are LTs out there in the 6s, its the amount of effort it takes to do so that is the difference.
But it offers several advantages, like being able to run 9s on a $200 junkyard long block like my car did this week (and its STILL not being pushed), which is where his statement comes from.
Get your car to the track, find out what it runs. Then you'll have a basis/starting point to work from.
My buddy has a model 3 performance. He drove it from Cedar Park TX to Little River Dragway which is a 2 hour round trip. Ran it 10-15 times running higher 11s and then drove it home all on one charge. Best times he got out of it where from hot lapping it at the end of the night 5 times in a row in about 20 minutes.
