Default No heat......

In my '89. The climate control works for air, defrost, etc. When I try heat, the fan blows cold air. The hoses leading to the core are hot, but it seems the valve to let the coolant into the core is not opening. Where should I look?

Try flushing the heater core with a garden hose. I connected the garden hose to the heater hoses that access the heater core through the firewall (and flushed both ways). Hopefully it is just clogged. You will be amazed by what gets stuck in there. Also it is a “free repair”. Try this before pulling the car apart to change the heater core. Good luck! :chevy

I just did this on both the GS and the Impala and what a difference it makes. I had a shop flush the cooling system and they flushed it all to the heater core. About a ten minute flush with a garden hose is all it took to clean it out. Big difference.

When my 86 did not work it was the heater valve, the arm controlling it moved but the valve had frozen and striped the arm.
