Default fuel level sender picture question

I have a 1996 base coupe. I am in the process of changing my fuel pump. I was also going to work on my fuel level sender. I have watched all the youtube's on it and read all forum posts. How to bend the 3 little tabs and polish the slider and clean the wrapped wires. When I pulled it out it looked nothing like I expected. It is plastic and the float bushings are shot and I do not see how to repair it. Does it appear this was replaced at some point? I have read reviews on some of the replacement complete units and many say they do not read correct. Does anyone know which brand does read correct?

Well, I ordered this one. The guy has great reviews and it says he has sold 534 of these. He has never had one returned for being inaccurate. He said to raise and lower the float about 10 times. He warned me to ohm the unit before installing if I was worried. Since it takes 2 minutes I will. Two other little questions if I may- Are the little o-rings on each of the screws for this unit important? I had a few that were torn. And I read not to use the plastic tube clamps supplied but to get stainless clamps. What is correct.Thanks. Dan
