It appears that I am having a problem with my fan coming on. If I understand this correct, the fans will come on:
1. when the temp gets to 228.
2. when the ac is on.
Is this correct?
The fan is coming on when the ac is on, but not when the car hits 228.
Where do I start looking?

The fan on with ac on is dependant on ac press-so the fan can come on way before 228 coolant temp just based on increased ac press.
So it's doing what it's supposed to-don't worry about it....

Thanks for the reply. Im not sure I understand. What I see as the problem is that when it gets over 228 the fan is not coming on. I'm I misunderstanding something?
With the AC off, your fan should come on at 228 or so. If it's not, first check the fan. See that it moves freely and isn't bound up. I think you could run a 12volt source to fan to see if it spins. Next check the fan relay. Someone else might be able to tell you how to test it, I would just use my spare relay (I keep one "just in case". That should be a start.

Thanks. The fan does come on when the ac is on. So I dont think its the fan, I will check the manual when I get home to see if they give a procedure for checking the relay.
The computer tells the primary fan to come on at 228 degrees if the a/c isn't on. If not, could the computer been changed to a different temp? I don't see this happening because most reset the computers to tell the fans to come on much earlier. The secondary fan is set to come on at 237 degrees also, so they you should have 2 fans running.

Thanks for the info. I think I may be wrong, it appears that the fans are coming on at 228. I stop by my mechanics tonight and he put the scan on it, the fans came on at 228 but the guage was reading almost 260.. :bb
Sorry, I misunderstood the fan functioning! Sounded like it did come on at 228, plus below 228 with the ac on....
Anyway-there are two different sensors for the dash and the pcm-one of them is not accurate....when he scanned it, it was reading the sensor for the pcm, not the dash. For peace of mind I'd change them both.
I agree, you need to change both sensors, which is not expensive. This will give you peace of mind and have both sensors reading the same. Let us know the outcome.... :smash:
