I am sure anybody that has an early C 4 has noticed that the A/C fan is kind of anemic.
has anybody come up with a blower that puts out more air?
i replaced mine with a new Dorman blower because the bearings or brushes were squealing.
i expected go get a bigger blast of air with a new motor, But all i cured was the squealing noise.
it’s 112 today and i just need more air.

I have an 85, and I noticed the same thing. I removed the blower and using a nylon brush, I made sure that the AC unit was free of leaves and crap. (There was lots!) I also looked at the high speed blower relay, located below the motor and found that it was not working at all. It only needed a cleaning of the contacts in the connector plug and it worked once more. So, now I have more air, but you're right... Pretty anemic on the whole.
I have the automatic temp control.
it seems like it us not closing the valve that goes to your feet.
i may just have to give it vacuum all the time so it’s closed or just wire it shut
My 86 uses the same blower as my 02 s-10 had. But in the s-10 I always ran it on low because it would blow your hat off on high speed. I replaced the a/c evaporator, which was partially plugged with debris and removed the restrictions in the center vents with a Dremel. It made a huge difference. Also, check the blower control module if you have climate control. Sometimes they don't put out full voltage and need to be replaced.
This was kind of touched on above but are all your vacuum controlled air “flaps/doors” working correctly? The if the door to the windscreen demister is open then just about nothing comes out the centre vents.
I used a piece of metal to hold the defroster completely shut
the dremel idea sounds like a good one.
in what universe Did those engineers decide too much cold air was a bad idea?
