Anyone familiar with proper install? I installed it like the factory but starter runs as soon as I connect negative battery cable. It doesn't engage the flywheel just spins without key even on.
I installed purple wire to the top with spade provided and two red to right terminal closest to block. Where is my error?
The battery wire needs to be on the outside lug. The one in that photo that still has the nut. The other one connects directly to the motor thats why it ran when power was applied.

Hmm at I got fooled I think. Watch video at 3:20 in
I have it hooked up correctly now but nothing. I think I fried it.
Waste of my time. Learning experience they need to revise their video. I'm going to call them tomorrow and complain.
Is there any fuses that could have blown?
Maybe the link... can you confirm you have power with a test light? You can jumper the battery positive to the crank terminal to see if it kicks. (Little one) or lay it flat across for a second to see if it is the solenoid not working.

I pulled the starter and tested it out of the car with jumper cables. It's working fine. I need to test the cables now and hope nothing failed.
I'm also in the middle of a T56 swap , clutch is pushed in and reverse lockout is extended but no start. It's always something...
..... Did you put a nut on the block-side terminal ? The one that you originally hooked the battery to ? .....
Yes. Reinstalled the nut and switched wires to other terminal as IT SHOULD BE . The video from Summit is in correct. Or I should say misleading. They switched the wiring from the inside near block to outside on my model. I didn't notice. 4+3 pointed that out above.
In the process being heat frustrated and in a hurry , when I disconnected the negative battery cable I did not push it down all the way as I usually do and it it touched, made contact to the battery and I threw some sparks under there. not getting power to solenoid now. I blew something. Dash lights and everything else still work.
Tested new starter, it's fine. Now I get to diagnose another problem lol
