Default Wiper Arm Spring

Hi, I just had a little mishap on my '87 vert. I was washing the windshield and applied too much pressure to the wiper arm and the spring and clip popped off. The clip appears to have straightened out a bit to allow the spring to come off. I've reformed the clip so it will stay on the shaft, but I've been looking through the threads and somebody posted a tech tip on reinstalling the spring several tears ago but I can't seem to find the tip. I've tried just about everything to pull this spring on but it's got a lot of tension for such a small spring. I'm thinking of going to a spring with less tension if I can't get this one on. I've seen people suggest a new wiper arm but I'm not gonna spend $100 or more for a wiper arm when all I need is to figure out how to pull the spring into place. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks, Troy.

I did the same thing!... Had to get a friend who was way stronger than me to pull it and put it back on....

Ya that spring is tough. I figured out a work around by stretching the spring about 1/16" and with some force I got it to clip in. Lesson learned I guess.
