I pick-up a replacement 700R4 transmission. There are no number on the outside case. Is it possible this transmission. Is a warranty replacement? How can I tell if it is?

Thanks
You bought a 'used' and are trying to ID what you bought? Does it have a Corvette extension? Do you know how to tell if it's 'early' or a later '87+ with AUX Valve Body? You post is a bit vague!! Did it come with converter?
I bought a trans out of a 91
firebird, swapped the tail housing, installed the vss gear and Circlips, and put it in my 86.
No problems, and with the aux accumulator, it doesn’t jump into gear anymore!!😃

it is a Corvette 700R4. Has the Correct tail housing.
In the link to a post from a few years ago there's an image of a case casting if it's a '87 or later with AUX VB, there's another of where trans information is on the 'pan rail' of the case. I'd think that should answer your ID issues. You'd certainly prefer I'd think a later w/AUX VB.
