Hi

i have been use products from Chemical guy and so far I have been very happy, the products are easy to use, economical and reasonably priced, i have tried the Extreme Wash, Blazing Banana, bag and tar, cherry wet wax, wet mirror glaze and the maxcoat wheel guard and none have disappointed.

I have been using Meguiar's NXT. I like it because it has a good shine, and is easy to use. It comes off easily after it dries.

The only downside I see is that it does not last as long as some others I have used, but not too bad.

I dont use wax anymore, I ceramic coat all my vehicles. Recently just did my old Lexus SUV. A few days work in the beginning, but I won't need to touch it again for several years.

I went with Kamikaze Miyabi on the 88, Miyabi + ISM 2.0 on the 19. Miyabi is more about luster and shine, the ISM provides a depth to black that really sets it off.

If you didnt want to do a coating yourself, which if you can use a DA and correct paint, its cake afterwards, then you can just use an SiO2 sealant that lasts about 6 months, compared to about 3 with waxes.

I've been using Griot's Best In Show liquid wax for quite a few years on my 95.

I have been experimenting with the newer Ceramic Sealants that I have read about. It takes a lot of prep work but makes for a nice durable shine. They want the car washed, Polished with Polishing compound, Clay bar treatment next and finally the ceramic sealant.

Both of my Corvettes are wanting for "new" paint so I practiced with my daughters 2011 Camaro in the "velocity yellow" which is a bright yellow I am sure you all have seen. Getting the car "ready" was the hardest part. The ceramic sealant goes on easily and wipes off easily. Just have lots of clean lint free cloths for wiping it off and shining it. The results are to be seen. She returns to Florida where the car will endure lots of Rain and Searing Sunlight. If it survives a year at school I will be impressed. I know that she washes it very infrequently so it should be okay. If it still beads the water in the spring I will be happy!

There seem to be some serious competition of different ceramic sealants out there. I have seen it for as little $10 for a 12 ounce spray bottle up to $50 for a 3 ounce container. Be careful and for your homework before you spend your hard earned cash.

Tried the ceramic coat...its ok but Im not a detail freak (Read Im lazy!)
been using zymol for yrs do it 2x a yr..if you use a car wash soap it usually holds up. Dawn or the like removes it.
Took a claybar to the 88 I just got...PO had plenty of wax on it so it shined good but felt rough to the touch.....took 30 min to do the whole car. took a spray bottle with warm soapy water to wet the area and just very lightly ran it over the surface no pressure needed. Cleaned then used a simple detail spray...looks friggin amazing I was surprised.

Far as most products they all seem to work well so i dont spend much on them.

I purchased my C4 last October, and if was grungy. To learn the easiest good process I watched many YouTube's, and Apex Detail is the best. He reviews everything that comes along in a very detailed, analytical manner; this includes the cheapest thru expensive boutique brands, often with surprising results.

From this study my process was:
A. Wash thoroughly with soft micro rags, and dry.
B. Buff with dual action buffer starting with a course foam pad and compound to remove major swirl and blems, followed by fine pad and compound. The correct pad is more important!
C. Clean with isopropyl.
D. Spray Turtle Wax Seal And Shine sparsely, wipe on and buff with micro rags. This is a ceramic spray suitable for all surfaces, easy to use, and surpassed everything but the expensive boutique brands.

Looks great and durable, especially after multiple coats.

I agree, Polish is used to bring out the shine of the paint. It offers no protection. Wax or a synthetic sealant will protect that shine.
Now. the responses will ensue. lol

Nope, not saying it shines better, but it lasts longer. You can wash wax off, that's why they say wash 2X with blue dawn before you clay a car., it will remove any dirt and "wax".

we can go round and round on this topic (circa chirp 3rd days when I owned a '99 Firehawk). I've used Zaino since then, the owner/developer of the product Sal Zaino told me about this when I met him at SLP day at Englishtown drag strip. Now the ceramic "polish" is not call ceramic "wax"....why not?

I try not to get too carried away especially with factory orange peel paint jobs. Make it look too good it magnifies the poor finish....so far the ones Ive had were pretty minimal. Anyone seen some late model vettes some are horrible!! A black one was shown in a thread about 6 mos ago it was SO bad couldnt help but feel bad for him. More product he put on the worse it looked.

been looking at this product. Might give it a try. I'll let you guys know if it's really that great.
My paint is in good shape but the swirl marks are heavy.
Debating what the best final coat will be.
Technology has come a long way lately.

Really appreciate the input!

that looks incredible! Thanks. I'm looking into a similar Si02 product thelastcoat.com. seems easy to apply. That's the biggest deal with ceramics. Application is done with a tiny pad and takes a long time.

What helps with darker colors is to use straight strokes, not circular,, and follow the lines of the car.
