Can you believe I had to run all over the place to find a lwr. radiator hose for my '84......not any of the regular shops eg. Kragen, AutoZone...etc.....they didn't even have it in thier catalogs.......finally found one at a Chevy Dealership....over 60 miles from my home ...andf paid $65.00....for just the lwr. radiator hose...
My gosh....what is this world comming too.....HAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Guess I must pay the Price......
tony
Should buy a newer vette!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I assume you are working on an 84, but don't know how my 96 would be that different...cost me 8 bucks from Jeff Kopp! Add 6 bucks for shipping and it is still dirt cheap.
There is something seriously wrong, here. It hasn't been THAT long since I bought one. I don't remember if I had to wait a day or two for the parts store to get it or not, but the price was within reason. Less than $10.00. WOW!!!
Ok, now for stupid question, the answer to which I could not find in the Helm service manual. Does the hose go OVER or UNFDER the front frame cross-over?
Sorry, ELEVENS, I see it's been all damn day since you asked. I even had to go out and look at my car to be positive. The hose goes OVER the crossbrace. Hopefully you figured that out before I go to post this.
Thanks CFI-EFI. No hurry, the car has been buttoned up for a couple weeks now. The hose ended up OVER the frame. Every time I take it apart, I wonder about it, though! The past two times, the routine goes something like this:
1) Look in shop manual, can't find it.
2) Put hose UNDER frame.
3) Scratch head.
4) Take hose off, put hose OVER frame.
The Goodyear plant in this town supplies Ford with hoses. People who work there say Ford and other manufacturers are radical about quality control. Even with the high cost, you have done well.
Well I know I'll get flamed for this but I tell ya what.......... I use NAPA belts and hoses and they serve me well ............. and they are in stock and not THAT expensive............ my god it's just a CHEVY!!! ......... a really cool Chevy but a Chevy just the same.....
Forgot to add. After 4PM, Saturdays, Sundays, NAPA is #1. They have most Weather Pack Ten connections, special tools, etc for getting Vettes fixed. They TRY to buy US. You may even find one with a good selectionb of fasteners.
Next time try this site to see if you can locate a seller of the (or any) part.
It helps if you know the part number when using this site. http://www.partsvoice.com
Enough said.....over and out......I did it and everything is OK????
What ever it took I did.....so that I could keep driving my vette....like I said...enough said....END OF THIS TOPIC....
thanks for all the info......but end this topic....NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First problem was the genaric parts stores you went to! Try NAPA,CARQUEST,ETC....they are real parts stores and normaly have much higher quality parts. The NAPA stores, around here, their belts and hoses are made by goodyear, and the CARQUEST stores nationwide are all gates. The 2 best suppliers in the world! OK, nuff said! :p:
