Wiper Issue - '84 C4
Working on my '84 C4 that I picked up last October. As some background, when I got it, I needed a whole new windshield wiper motor, motor cover and wiper fluid pump to get the system working, which it did, save for the "intermittent" setting on the wiper control switch - setting it to intermittent just stopped the motor from running wherever the blades happen to be.
Two weeks ago, a bracket that had been improperly installed by the previous owner blocked up the wiper arms. Once I was able to remove that part, the wipers now will not shut off and park back at "home." I put a message out on a Facebook group and the consensus (of the few respondents) was that a the wiper motor cover needed to be replaced as the circuit likely burned out.
Got a new motor and motor cover (it was cheaper) and proceeded to swap out the motor cover, but there was no change; the wipers still will not turn off and park at "home."
So, my suspicion is the wiper control switch. I'm about to break out the multimeter to check that voltage readings are correct per the FSM for the various switch settings, but before I do this, I wanted to find out if anyone else has had these issues or symptoms? If I check the switch and voltage is per spec, is there something else in the system I'm overlooking?
Thanks.
Chris
