Shifter/clutch problem, please help. '95 6 speed.
Went out to go for a ride a little bit ago, and car would not go into gear with the engine running. Thought it was the slave cylinder, but I could change gears with the engine off. The car will start with the trans in gear, and the clutch will release nice and smooth (just realized I never tried to shift after that). Clutch doesn't appear to be disengaging with the engine running while the car is sitting in neutral. ??? Thanks in advance for the help.

what type of clutch are you using? This has happened to me, when I installed Mcleod Street Twin clutch. The Problem were I did not grind enough off the Pivot ball flange, to make it thinner. Some of the aftermarket clutch are seem to be interfere with the pivot ball THICK flange, If this is the case for you, then you will not be able to shift into gear while engine is running.

11/30 update. Read a couple of clutch/trans books from the library, and reviewed my manual. Nothing mentioned of this specific problem. Checked the hydraulic fluid level, and it was low. Filled 'er up and same problem when I started the car. For whatever reason, after I shut her down I started it up again. WTF! Worked fine. Took a short ride and no problems. Man, I sure hope I not looking at some kind of sporadic trouble, I hate that! Anyone been through this one?

I've had the low fluid problem, I just top it off, push the clutch pedal in and out several times till it "feels" right, and work the shifter through the gears and usually all is well.
