Default Front spring rate

I have a 92 front suspension cradle that I'm using in a restomod. I would like to put a softer spring if there is one. Could someone tell me if there were different rates and what year or any aftermarket? Thanks Scott

Softer would be a spring from a 96 base FE1 car. IDK aftermarket usually people look for firmer, Coilovers depending on what you're working with are a option.

I should have mentioned in my original post was that my intention is to try to lower the front end of my car a couple of inches. Would a softer spring rate do this? Thanks Scott

Maybe. depends on weight of car. 92 corvette comes in at 3350 so if car is heavier or is running iron big block probably. Trimming spring mounting isolators down to around a 1/4 inch might get you a inch. If you could find a now rare VBP adjustable front spring that might work for you. A lighter car IMO you will need to go to coilovers.

note: Vette Brake Products went out of business a few years ago. AFAIK no one in making their springs products.

I doubt it will be any lower compared to the spring you have now. GM would have used a higher arch to compensate for the lower spring rate on the softer springs, because they didn't want to have a lower ride height for the base cars. You can shave or remove the spring pads, and/or possibly shim the spring higher up in the frame clamps.

Usually you want a higher spring rate on a lower car.
