Has anyone come up with a replacement programable computer for the old style prom computers where you have to take the prom out and have it reprogramed like I have in my 92. Had I known that when I bought it, I would have got at least a 93.

Thanks, sounds a little pricy, and it only fits up to an 89. MIne is a 92.

That wouldn't have helped, since the 92 and 93 computers are basically the same. It's the 94-95 that are flash-reprogrammable. And the 96, but it requires a different flash method that currently costs $400+.

Haltech does have a support article about the LT1, but basically they tell you to go ahead and wire it yourself. If you have patience, that's not actually that difficult a job to do, and they do give you instructions. But it does not appear they have any plug-and-play solutions for the LT1/LT4.

What ECM is in a 92? I went with an EBL from Dynamic EFI for my F-Body TPI. I know later LT1/4 isn't compatible, but I have a small hope the 92 may be?

It can be done but I think the CCM is left inoperative...

I know EBL is available for TPI Corvettes. How did the CCM/ECM arrangement change? 92 LT1 is still OBD1, Batch Fire, 700R4. It is basically a miniram TPI with a distributor in the front rather than the rear. Although, I know the Corvette had some functions the F-Body did not. It is dang near plug and play but if the factory ECM has code for the CCM I am not sure that would be supported.

Dynamic has a list of compatible ECMs, that is why I was curious what the ECM number is and if it is listed as a "compatible" option. There is some re-pinning of the ECM harness, but it isn't bad to get one in. Then 8 frames per second data stream, data logger, and flash based memory ready to go. Works on GM .bins so there is a lot of support... all good things if it is compatible.

I used to burn chips for my 87. Not difficult or expensive. Is a 92 that hard to do ?

Not hard, but you do need the MEMCAL adapter in order to use aftermarket chips. You also need a chip burner, and chips, and know what you're doing with both. While I personally don't find any of that difficult, some might.

The ECM for both the 1992 and 1993 Corvette is 16159278.

Not sure, Bob lists it on the site though... you'd have P4 and it says 90-91 vettes it isn't supported.

Install a Moates Ostrich on the ECM.

Since the OP is addressing 92, the only thing I find annoying is going under the hood of my 90 to change the tune. Suppose I could hook up my Ostrich but I still need a longer cable! lol

I used to push mow my grass, now I have a rider
I used to ride my bike everywhere, then I got a license
I used to talk on a phone with a cord attached to the wall... you see where I am going with this?

time has passed, technology has improved and faster data logging with flash based tuning is just quicker and easier

It would appear dynamic doesn't support a plug and play option for the 92. In which case, I would be looking at the ostrich.

You could change PCM and engine harness.to a 94-95 SFI. If you have M6 it's fairly simple. Lots of 94-95 LT1 cars including full size. Use MAF or tune it for speed density. Automatic will be more complicated because of different type of shifting. 92-93 cable.94+ electric.
