I need new driver's side cat. current one is 50 % functional
random lists one on their site. DOes anyone know if it is a direct fit, or does it need to be welded? Comments on performance

I got mine from TPIS but I see they don't list one for '92 Vette LT1. You might contact RT directly to see what's up with fitment.

I did my RT cat along with front Y and TPIS cat-back so can't realy say how much gain was from the cat alone, though there was substantial gain overall.

If one is 50% you might as well do both at once; take a look to see how they're installed.

It's a direct replacement. They are MUCH smaller and lighter than the factory cats. I also removed the factory mounting bracket on my ZF6 to get the cat installed.

Another option is Carsound cats. I believe that Chris @ Speeddemon Motorsports has the best deal on them <$100. However, they are larger than the RT cats which go for around ~$150. Both are well made products from my experience (in fact, I've heard that Carsound is the parent brand of Magnaflow). Just depends on whether you see a need for the smaller cats or not.
