i'M CHANGING THE VALVE COVER GASKETS ON MY 85 L98. GOT THE PASSANGER SIDE OFF OK, BUT THE DRIVERSIDE IS A :cuss :reddevil :mad . I TOOK THE BOLTS OF THE WIPER BLADE MOTOR BUT IT WONT COME OUT DUE TO A METAL PIPE BLOCKING IT. CAN I REMOVE THAT PIPE?
Having trouble with the photo's. But I do remember the drivers side being a PITA to remove and install because of the wiper motor. I'm not sure if my "88 has that pipe that you mention. I'll go check and get back to ya.
Re: NEED HELP!!! GOING @^$%#&@ NUTS (corvette0096)
I've done it an easier way...I bend the cold start injector fuel pipe over a little, remove the power brake booster vacuum line fitting from the intake ( with an open end wrench ), loosten the AIR pump support bracket ( one bolt from back of pump bracket ) and then I simply loosten the two bolts and one nut that hold the alternator/AIR pump bracket to the front of the head/water pump.
I don't even remove the serpentine belt...no need to, the belt actually holds the alternator/air pump assembly out so the valve cover clears.
