How to check if the ABS works?
But I'm not sure if the ABS works!
Ther's a SAFETY way to test the ABS?
-Beppe-
Check your brake fluid level. Topping it off should stop the ABS light. If it's low it's probably time to replace the pads and flush the old fluid out.
The 1990 will store ABS codes. You will need to retrieve the codes from the computer. Do you have the service manual?
Once you retrieve the codes, trouble shooting a little easier. Let us know the codes.
As far as an operational check, ah, you could find some rain slicked parking lot, snow covered parking lot, ice covered parking lot, etc. Then at about 15 miles per hour, try to lock up the brakes. You should feel the pedal pulsating as fluid is returned to the reservoir. I would not try this on dry ground.
If you have a Tech 1A scanner with Bosch connector, you can check each wheel solenoid. This of course requires the tester and two people.
Let us know.

I have an Haynes 85/96 manual with the explanation of all codes.
On all description of codes I haven't found codes with Abs trobles.
Codes are from 12 to 55 (If I remember... I will check the manual)
I have no codes stored on ECM (taken from the connector under the dash).
Which are codes about ABS??
Thanks - Beppe-
These things almost NEVER go bad. Most likely brake fluid, however I will share this with you. I was getting ASR/ABS codes along with a bunch of others and nothing was wrong with the system that a ECM didn't fix.
On the 1990 and 1991 model, shorting pin "H" to pin "A" on the ALDL will cause the ABS light to flash ABS codes.
http://www.c4vettes.com/codes.htm will explain with a diagram of which pins to short.
Let us know what code are present (if any).
Or as stated above, find a big, wet parking lot and try to lock 'em up.
