What do you guys like better Hurst or B&M, I noticed that the hurst seems to be less costly however I had a B&M on my Camaro and loved it. What do you guys think? I don't want the shifter to flex at all while in gear. Also I would like the shifter **** to sit a little lower than stock and still give a positive short shifting feel.
I saw the hurst somewhere for $180 the ripper is $200-220..... I really have no idea what they would charge, it wasn't that hard to put one on my Camaro I'll guess we will see the differance
this debate is about as intense as any out here...
I have a hurst and love it...
I have never driven any car equipped with a B&M shifter. So I am at a disadvantage.
From what I have read here, the Hurst is best for autocrossing and street whereas the B&M is best for drag racing.
I have a Hurst in my LT4 and love it but like Bogus have never driven a Vette with a B&M. However I have no trouble powershifting the Hurst in the quater mile. I think the B&M is a bit notchier and does well on the road courses. Just my opinion. The Hurst is not a bad install if you take your exhaust down. That really speeds up the install. Also, you can't compare the Hurst for a Camaro to the one for the Vette. It's a different animal altogether. I bought mine when they first came out $130. Hope this helps.
If you like the B&M in your camaro then you'll want the B&M in the vette. Honestly I've driven the Hurst and B&M in both the Vette and the Camaro. In both cases the hurst is only marginally better than stock IMHO. I loved the B&M for the Camaro so much that it's the reason I bought it for my Vette. I got it installed and all I could say was "damn that's short" My friend was sitting in the car with me under it, I told him I had driven the final pin home and told him to try it, he honestly thought that it couldn't possibly be right, no way it could be that short.
Sure enough it was right, it is that short, and it's a lovely thing. It doesn't flex at all, and it's short enough to allow you to use your cup holder. There is also a VERY satisfying clunk about it when you get it in gear. There's never any question about what gear you're in. Honestly though the best way to know would be to drive them both before you make your decision. C'mon to BG and I'll let you drive mine.
The B&M is a shorter throw than the Hurst and thus it is a bit harder to shift. The Hurst is what the stock shifter should have been. Still easy to shift and a shorter throw.
