Default Updating stereo

Hey guys. I’m getting my research together for a project I’m planning on doing to my ‘84 LS powered C4. I am looking to upgrade some of the technology in the car, and use this technology to integrate into the new LS power as well. So my plan is to install a Nexus 7 into the dash where the original Bose stereo is located. I will also be adding an amp and 10” sub into the back while also replacing all the speakers in the car. At the moment, everything is factory Bose.
does anybody know if there is a double din radio bezel for the early style dash? I saw a guy named Dennis from Double DMods made one but he doesn’t seemed to exist anymore. I wonder how hard it would be to trim the bezel to fit? Probably not too hard compared to the rest of the work. I am thinking of also adding in some extra usb devices such as backup camera and a dash cam since I live in a “no fault” state.

Would love to hear any advice/suggestions.

Trimming the bezel isn't bad at all, most 7" double dins will fit with just trimming the top and bottom raised portions on the back. I did just that and fabbed a bracket that goes along either side and bolts the headunit to the fascia and hides the gap on either side.

Sweet! Thanks for the info. You make it sound like it won’t be too difficult at all.

Lock your bezel to the table

A 2x4 under this side

I just put a 7” Pioneer DMH-1500NEX in my 1985 this week. It was actually quite easy after doing this. There was no cutting on the bottom, the bezel fit perfectly. I’m not liking the notch cut on top so I will be rounding those corners otherwise it’s great having CarPlay, Siri eyes free, maps, videos. If anyone is interested I can put up pictures for the whole procedure and parts.

U bolts to make the guide and the bezel openings to make the straight cut. And the largest dremel cutting wheel to reach down to the plastic.

And that’s the straight cut

And with this trim piece from EBay, cut the top off and trim the sides and bottom to fit. It will fill the side gaps perfectly and the whole deal looks very factory like when done.
