Updating stereo
does anybody know if there is a double din radio bezel for the early style dash? I saw a guy named Dennis from Double DMods made one but he doesn’t seemed to exist anymore. I wonder how hard it would be to trim the bezel to fit? Probably not too hard compared to the rest of the work. I am thinking of also adding in some extra usb devices such as backup camera and a dash cam since I live in a “no fault” state.
Would love to hear any advice/suggestions.
Lock your bezel to the table
A 2x4 under this side
I just put a 7” Pioneer DMH-1500NEX in my 1985 this week. It was actually quite easy after doing this. There was no cutting on the bottom, the bezel fit perfectly. I’m not liking the notch cut on top so I will be rounding those corners otherwise it’s great having CarPlay, Siri eyes free, maps, videos. If anyone is interested I can put up pictures for the whole procedure and parts.
U bolts to make the guide and the bezel openings to make the straight cut. And the largest dremel cutting wheel to reach down to the plastic.
And that’s the straight cut
And with this trim piece from EBay, cut the top off and trim the sides and bottom to fit. It will fill the side gaps perfectly and the whole deal looks very factory like when done.
