Question on Header Coating.............
If some of the coating has been removed from a header is there a way to fix it using some sort of high temp paint? I'm looking for the cheapest solution, I don't really want to have it re-coated.
Re: Question on Header Coating............. (Mr. Magoo)
My headers don't look quite as bad as yours, but I would be interested too. Off topic, your plug wires are routed somewhat like mine. However, I ran #'s 5 & 7 a little longer and came up from underneath with "L" type boots. Does your 5 &7 plug boots eventually get burnt with the straight in type that you use at those 2 locations ?

Re: Question on Header Coating............. (ittlfly)
Oooops sorry I failed to mention this pic is not my Vette, it's another members vette in which I'm working on a deal to purchace these headers. :blueangel:
If they can't be touched up it's really not a big deal, I'm just curious.

Magoo-
It's not the cheapest, but there's a place in Houston that can recoat your headers with ceramic coating for way less than $200. There's also the option of getting them done in something other than silver - I think they offer black, red and blue. Not sure how that would look, but it's there.
The best route is re-coating. The high temp stuff will melt off after some time. Coating also doesn't last sadly. For some reason, the headers always rust near the collector area EVEN when coated.
I have some MSD 90 deg boots if you'd like them. I think they we're like $15 or so? I'll double check. My wires came with all 90's but one(L98 set).
Only way I know of is to have them recoated. SO, unless you get a great deal on them, I might pass if I were you.
High temp ceramic paint does NOT work. I bought some industrial grade paint for my stock mufflers, and even IT is starting to burn off after three months. Im sure that using the stuff on headers would mean an even shorter life.
I would either send them to HPC (a sure shot IMO), or find a respected local shop. Either way, good luck
Re: Question on Header Coating............. (Mr. Magoo)
Doesnt look that bad to me, i wouldnt bother with it. The high-temp paint is worthless, my friend has a 74 with new headers and the paint came off within a month.

Re: (scorp508)
Magoo what headers are those? Like JD said recoating is really the best way, the hi temp paints will still fade over time and flake off.
LPE long tubes. (I know plug changes are a bitch......blaa, blaaa, blaaa) :)
This is the only side that has any coating worn off, the other header is fine..........and YES I'm getting a sweet deal on them. :)
Screw it then I'll just deal with it. Oh and JD thanks bud but I already have a set!
Are they hookers? They don't have the hooker nameplate on the #1 primary. That #8 plug from the picture looks nearly impossible to change. Doesn't quite look like my pair.
