Default Vortex Rammer or SLP Claw?

OK, I need some help making my mind up. I'm torn between the two.
Corvettes of Houston is offering the Rammer for $245. Speed Demon is offering the Claw cold air intake for $239. So which should I go for? Do they really make that big a difference or should I just stick with the open air filter mod + K&N?
All help welcome!
Tnx

Are you talking about the Vortex Ram air? If so I would go with that over the Claw for sure. With the claw, you are still sucking in under hood air (hot), and with the Vortex you are forcing outside (cooler) air in. :seeya

I went with the Forced air, see licence plate area in sig, I love it, but if I had to choose one of those two I would go with the Claw it looks better and you aren't going to see huge gains with either, at least not until you are moving at higher speeds.

SLP, you could probably get it cheaper from them. I know the one for my year is $150 or so.

I had the same dilemna 2 years ago. I went with the SLP for several reasons:

1. Price. The SLP was on sale for $209 vs. $240+ for the Vortex.
2. Construction. The SLP is made out of metal and looks wicked in its gloss black powdercoated paint, while the Vortex is just cheap plastic. I really did not want to cut my radiator shroud, either. Also, several members have complained about the Vortex breaking and cracking.
3. Fit. The SLP unit fits like a glove. The Vortex has severe issues with fitment, with gaps in the radiator seal and intake duct. BPP has issued a "fix" which is supposed to remedy the intake duct seal problem, but it is a band-aid fix at best.
4. Performance. Both units will yeild about the same results, which is minimal, at best. I bought it primarily for the looks, and it delivers in that regard.

I installed the Vortex Rammer because I wanted outside cooler air not under the hood air. If I wanted the under the hood air I would have just cut the top of the filter housing

All things being equal I would go with the claw. Just like the looks of it. I plan on getting one. Guy

I would suggest the claw not becasue it looks good, but because it is a better quality piece than the vortex.

I have the vortex, and it is a POS in regards to quality but as far as functionality, it is actually a pretty solid design. However, due to it's crappy quality, air leak has become an issue and therefore the forced ram air effect has lost it's purpose.

I would buy the claw but cut out the radiator shourd just like they do for the vortex so it could suck in cold air from outside the engine compartment. By doing this you would also allow air to enter into the engine bay for a cooling effect for your motor.
